Customized test benches for static and dynamic tests

In the world of composites, PINETTE PEI is a well-known supplier of hydraulic presses and production lines. But our expertise is not limited to forming and production solutions: we also supply control and testing machines. Our large-scale test benches are used to carry out static and dynamic tests on large parts or entire civil launcher structures. They are custom-designed and used worldwide by major players in the space sector.

Static test benches

Static test benches for testing launch vehicle components - Military applications

PINETTE PEI provides static test benches used to control launch vehicle parts and structures by applying tensile, compressive and flexural stresses, as well as internal pressure resistance tests.

Tensile/compression forces up to 25,000 KN

Bending forces up to 5,000 kN

Maximum dimensions of controlled components: diameter 2,500 mm, height 6,500 mm

Optimized design for easy instrumentation and loading/unloading operations

Maximum overflows applied to the specimen less than 10%.

Highly rigid reference frame ensures bench neutrality with respect to stresses exerted on specimens

All these features guarantee the efficiency, reliability and high precision of this equipment.

Static test benches for testing launch vehicle components - Civil applications

This equipment can apply tensile, compressive, bending and internal pressure forces:

  • Maximum cumulative load capacity: 52,000 kN for a mass of 180 tonnes
  • Maximum size of controlled components: diameter 4,000 mm, height 8,000 mm
  • High rigidity and over-swelling applied to specimens below 10%.

Static test benches for testing cryogenic tank feed lines

PINETTE PEI provides static test equipment for testing Ariane 5 cryogenic tank supply lines, simulating the temperatures and forces they can be subjected to in real-life conditions. This type of test rig, mounted on a welded steel frame, is equipped with accessories to test resistance to shear stress, internal pressure, deformation and extreme temperatures.

The optimized design of this equipment guarantees reliability, ease of use and versatility. It has been used to carry out 10 successive campaigns for the Ariane 5 cryogenic supply line test program (with a different configuration each time).

Static test bench for testing launcher interstage structures and launcher/satellite interface parts

PINETTE PEI provides test benches for testing launch vehicle interstage structures and launch vehicle/satellite interface parts. This control equipment can apply tensile, compressive and bending forces. In use for over 20 years, this test system has proven its reliability. Its lifespan has demonstrated that the design of its structure ensures the neutrality of the bench in relation to the stresses exerted on the specimens. It has also been designed to facilitate reconfiguration operations.

  • 4,000 kN capacity
  • Tensile, compression and bending forces up to 500 kN / m
  • Overflows applied to specimens of less than 10%.
  • Diameter: 3,000 mm – Height: 3,000 mm

Dynamic test benches

Dynamic test bench for Ariane 5 cryogenic disconnection system

PINETTE PEI has developed a dynamic test bench for validation and qualification of the hydrogen, oxygen and liquid helium supply line disconnection system for Ariane 5. This machine can simulate real launch conditions, including all kinematic forces. It also features a programming and data acquisition system.

The reliability and accuracy of the reproduction of real take-off conditions in terms of position, speed, acceleration and cryogenic temperatures is 100% guaranteed. Thanks to its development strategy based on collaborative engineering, PINETTE PEI is able to deliver this equipment in a very competitive timeframe.

Vulcain 2 dynamic test bench

PINETTE PEI has supplied a dynamic test rig for re-qualification of the nozzle on the VULCAIN 2 cryogenic engine. The purpose of this test facility is to simulate actual take-off conditions and the stresses involved. This equipment has proved its reliability in terms of thermal, acoustic and vibratory resistance. It is a true model of technological innovation.

PINETTE PEI also designed, manufactured and delivered a dynamic test bench for the Ariane 5 servo-control system. By applying opposing forces, the test bench simulates all the forces opposing direct servo-control forces.

We attach great importance to R&D and invest heavily to continually improve our machines, processes and technologies. Through our collaborative approach, we are able to carry out all kinds of projects and meet all requirements for dynamic test equipment and systems.
